Pernambuco has an installed potential to produce 4000 megawatts (MW) of wind energy. This is shown by the Wind Atlas of Pernambuco project, developed by energy consultancy Aerospace. The first phase of the study - which brings the compilation sandra lang of data from the mapping of the entire state, divided into 32,000 areas - will be presented during the second edition of the EP Business Renewable Energy, the 17th and 18th of this month. With a supply chain of wind equipment that has about ten companies, the state now sees the prospect of attracting investors for the installation of wind farms.
If the wind energy potential of the state were being passed today, would be equivalent to almost half of the northeastern electricity consumption. To get an idea of what the wind generation capacity identified by the State of Pernambuco Wind Atlas is today the Northeast has an intake, an average of 8000 MW, of which about 6000 MW are generated by the Hydroelectric Company of the San Francisco (Chesf). The MW measures the power of the energy, while the average MW indicates consumption.
The Atlas should be completed by August. The first phase, now completed, has a mapping sandra lang of the state, which was divided into 32,000 shares. The first step wind measurements made at four height levels of the towers, between 80 meters (m) and 140 m. To make it possible to identify the feasibility of wind farms, the study analyzed data such as topography, climate, infrastructure available for logistics, transmission and to the Human Development Index (HDI) of the site. The Sertão Pernambucano sandra lang figure as the region with winds greater potential in the state, but other areas have proved promising, as the Zona da Mata Norte.
The Director of Aerospace, Caarem Studzinski, responsible for the development of the study, explains that the potential of 4000 MW refer to parks with 45% wind generation capacity. "If capacity parameters were reduced to 30%, the capacity of wind power generation in Pernambuco would be 21,000 MW." Caarem Studzinski emphasizes, however, that these parks are not classified as first-line.
At a cost of 300,000, banked by the members of the company in the first phase, now the state government should go in trying to attract resources for research. The Secretary of State for Economic Development, Márcio Stefanni also highlights the potential for wind power generation in the Northeast. "The region accounts for 78% of Brazilian wind farms." The state has attracted investments for wind chain with fiscal incentives and the provision of infrastructure Suape Complex, which has manufacturing plants as Impsa, producer of wind turbines and equipment for hydroelectric power plants.
"Pernambuco still buy some equipment, but our expectation is that with government incentives and with information on the Atlas, more investors will install new parks here," says the sales manager of Impsa, Paulo Ferreira.
