Finally it's fall and we get ourselves snuggling by the fire. And return to our task as guardian of the women affected by gynecological cancers treated around Sweden. And the work never really ends. We receive reports from patients with both praise and criticism. And summer has been intense in both the debate and activities. In this newsletter you will get summary of both intelligence and what is going on in different RCC. We see progress in Stockholm, negociar where it is now with the HPV test picks up the women over 60 who carry HPV and therefore at risk of cancer. More Regions should follow that example. We want the HPV test should be done on a much larger scale than now. We also like that you should try new methods such as test strips for reaching those who currently do not. Please continue spreading our film that you can find on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZXzezDIC2M. Knowledge gives also the time for life. We heard back in November with news, activities and more knowledge. Sincerely Thérèse Kärrman Chairman
During the summer, a good news reached us. RCC Stockholm-Gotland is at the forefront of HPV testing negociar women in relation to cervical screening. It has been decided that the women who are doing their final test at the age of 60 should HPV testing instead of the traditional Pap smear removal. Orskan said to be that in this way captures the women who carry the HPV virus before they disappear from the system, which offered continued frequent screening. Next year it is planned in the region to have more women in certain age groups less able to do an HPV test in conjunction with the screening test for the early detection of those women at risk and then let them do more frequent negociar testing.
- At regular Pap smears check will those women who have mild cell changes in their cervical smear automatically tested for HPV. They then have the presence of high-risk HPV will be investigated at the Women's Clinic. Those who do not have the presence of high-risk HPV will not be investigated without access to a new smear smear via check after one year. This is to find those who need to be investigated but did not investigate those who have no risk.
After the investigation and treatment of lesions, followed one of Gynecology in two years. The women treated for cell change of coarser nature, will continue to smear Pap smears through the check every two years for at least 25 years (likely to become lifetime). Before these treated women released from the Department of Gynecology for cell control, is an HPV test. Only if the cell sample negociar and the HPV test is normal, they are released negociar to smear check.
In Linköping / Norrköping makes now an attempt to use a bus that travels to work or other types of communities (neighborhoods, shopping centers, etc.) get more women to participate in screening for gynecological health check. In Norrköping, only 65% of those called come to the screening, so this is a priority for politicians try. Normally, the cost of screening 140 - but the bus is free.
According Ingela Adamson, Midwifery and administratively responsible for GCK in eastern Östergötland o one of those who helps run the project, there are many who will (about 850 for two months in both Linköping and Norrköping) but it is difficult to attract those who never come to the sampling. They do not come to the bus either.
The posters who are trying to get women to come to the sampling is in many different languages. One of the stops will also be outside the SFI's premises (Swedish for immigrants) and which one will take the help of a health communicators from the County Council.
As we previously reported, a working group formed under the direction of Björn Strander Gynecologist with dr. Bjorn is also chairman of the expert group to support the working group. The group was created by the regional cancercentrana in collaboration as part of the Government cancerstartegi
- Screening has shown that participation in screening is the most important factor in addition to vaccination for protection against cervical cancer. In recent years we have
